Emerging technologies & innovations can lead to creating next generation businesses & products.

Businesses and firms are now linked in a global marketplace, and governments are challenged to achieve the new efficiencies that are so highly valued in a technology-based world. In the new marketplace, not cities and not states, but metropolitan regions, are the engines of the global economy. The businesses that thrive will be the ones that can adapt to the new marketplace realities and compete by global standards.

Web Services :

Web services represent the next step level change in the IT industry. Organisations looking to raise their performance to new levels of efficiency and productivity would be wise to wake up to the potential of Web services before their competitors do.

Web services can provide business managers, their customers and suppliers, with instantaneous access to corporate and transaction information on the device of their choosing, anytime and anywhere. By connecting processes online, Web services enable companies to significantly increase their efficiency and lower their running costs. In comparison, many companies today regularly take days, sometimes weeks to process business information, expecting customers and suppliers to tolerate delays. It also costs far more to operate in this inefficient way.

Web Services are an emerging and important new approach to information technology and systems architecture. Web Services will eliminate barriers between systems and organizations and thus can enable an entirely new class of organization "the seamless enterprises". However, there are significant challenges to implementing WS since there are few, if any, established best practices. NTC provides high-value, focused research, analysis, and insight on emerging technologies that will have new way next generation business will be run in the future.

Internet2/IPv6 The Next Generation Internet:

The IPv6 protocol is the successor of the current IP routing protocol, called Ipv4. The size of the addressing field in Ipv6 is greatly expanded over that of IPv4, permitting many more devices to be directly addressed than is the case today. IPv6 also provides security features not available today.

To date the IP addresses have mainly been used by a low number of the Earth's inhabitants. The number of users is destined to grow exponentially particularly in Asia and developing countries, or rather the areas that were initially the least served in
terms of addresses.

New technologies such as new generation mobile phones with their billions of terminals, high speed data access or WiFi, as well as new IP connection equipment (pda's, gps, vehicles, communicating objects, hi-fi devices, household appliances…) are going to necessitate a very significant number of IP addresses per user.
